Amex Gold Makes 4x Dining Multiplier Permanent
CC
By CardCompare TeamAmerican Express confirms the 4x points on dining at restaurants is now a permanent feature of the Gold Card, no longer a limited-time offer.
American Express has confirmed that the 4x Membership Rewards points at restaurants worldwide is now a permanent earning category on the Amex Gold Card.
Previously, this was billed as a "limited-time" enhanced rate (the card's standard dining rate was 3x). The card also continues to earn 4x at US supermarkets (up to $25,000/year) and 3x on flights.
What this means: At a $250 annual fee, the Amex Gold remains one of the strongest dining cards available. With $500/month in dining spending, you'd earn 24,000 points per year on dining alone — worth approximately $480 at our 2 cpp valuation.
Combined with the $120 Uber Cash credit and $120 dining credit, the card practically pays for itself even before counting points.
